My main inspiration is abstract painting and mark making. I explore artist works such as Gerard Richter whilst also being influenced by my own mark-making explorations with paint and dyes. I aim to translate marks into yarns using printing and dyeing techniques, attempting to recreate the fluidity and painterly textures. I use a range of yarns and fibres which makes the dyeing process more exciting and challenging; its often unpredictable how a dye will take to a yarn. When weaving, I work intuitively, making marks and drawing with my weft yarns to create energetic and vibrant woven artworks intended to be shown as a piece of art.
